Faceci w szlafrokach / Men in bathrobes

These clothes are not bathrobes, but Djellabas - the traditional long, loose-fitting outer robe with full sleeves worn in North Africa and in Arabic-speaking countries along the Mediterranean. As Kadrinazi sugessted I was taking the "family" picture of whole Goum squad. Now I'm starting a holidays. Soon I will return with some new conversions' ideas. Please take a look at this Maroccans one more time. IMHO as whole squad they look amazing, aren't they?

Naprawdę długi karabin / A truly long rifle

The third Goums' team is finished. This time my Marocains are equipped with French Lebel Model 1886 rifles which entered service in the French Army in April 1887. The two soldiers from left have shorter version of this carabine which entered into service in 1935, as the French army was re-equipped with the newest model of this weapon - Lebel Mle 1886 93R35. But the lot of African troops still had the old rifles in use. The rifle had 1307 mm and 1820 mm with bayonet. Look at my painted figure with bayonet - it was very long rifle!

Goums - sekcja LKM / Goums - LMG section

I was finishing the Goum LMG section. The FM 24/29 was the standard squad-level automatic weapon of the French infantry and cavalry at the start of WWII. But from 1943 on, as the French army was re-equipped and re-organized in North Africa with Allied support. The FM 24/29 was kept in service, but the most French troops were equiped with the B.A.R. (Browning Automatic Rifle). So I decided to give my Goums more popular Browning's LMG. I was using the mix of figures and bits of Caesar and Italeri's French soldiers with some Green Stuff conversions. But for B.A.R. operator I was using the Revell's American paratrooper figure. I'm starting the next conversions. Next time I'll prepare Goums riflemen with more British stuff and with the mix of various French carabines.

Gloria Victoribus

Gloria victoribus!
600 years ago, on July 15th of AD 1410 we claimed one of the greatest victory in our history. The Teutonic power was broken by Polish and Lithuanian armies in great battle of Grunwald (also known as the First Battle of Tannenberg). The German expansion in eastern Europe was halted for centuries and the "Golden Age" in Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was started. Gloria victoribus!

Byli to wojownicy plemion zamieszkujących góry Atlas w Maroku i Tunezji. Moi wojownicy walczyli w 4e Groupe de Tabors Marocains.

Wszystkie figurki to konwersje żołnierzy francuskich Italeri i Caesara, uzupełnionych fragmentami zestawów figurek Arabów, Brytyjczyków i Amerykanów. To pierwsza sekcja, teraz rozpoczynam konwersję drugiej, wyposażonej w lekki karabin maszynowy.

Les Goumiers also called the Goums were a soldiers of French Expeditionary Corps who fought in Monte Cassino battles. They were the tribal warriors drawn from the Atlas mountains of Morroco and Tunisia. They were armed with mix of old French or American equipment, but they also had their knives. The Goums fought in their original uniforms with distinctive vertical striped colour scheme of brown and white or grey. The stipes' colours was also the markings of the tribes. Les Goumiers was grouped into 3-squad platoons, as a part of companies grouped into Tabors (equivalent of battalions). Three Tabors was merged into Group. My Goums are warriors of 4e Groupe de Tabors Marocains.

All miniatures are conversions of Italeri and Caesar French army figures with some Arab Warriors, British and American bits. This is a first team, now I'm starting the conversions of another unit with light machine gun.

Karpatczycy - druga drużyna / The Carpathians - the second squad

The second squad of Polish Carpathians is already done. This time I was using the Revell and Caesar figures. I was using the same conversion technique as the last time. Now I'm working with something special, so I will use my greatest conversion and sculpture skills. So please stay tuned!

By the way - TANK Models - Polish distributor of resin models in scale 1/72 produced by Modell Trans Modellbau will be starting his bussiness soon. Great!

Karpatczycy we Włoszech / The Carpathians in Italy

Po krótkiej przerwie powróciłem do mojego projektu związanego z Monte Cassino. Tym razem zrobiłem kilka prostych przeróbek, a następnie pomalowałem pierwszą drużynę z 3-ciej Dywizji Strzelców Karpackich. Wykorzystałem nieco figurek z zestawu 6077 firmy Italeri "British 8th Army".

After a break I was returning to my Monte Cassino project. This time I was making some simple conversions and I was painting the first squad of the Polish 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division. I was using several figures from Italeri's set 6077 "British 8th Army". I was filling spaces between the shorts and the shoes with Green Stuff and I was making the pockets on the left legs. In this way I have the perfect summer British uniforms for Italian front. Some helmets have the white eagles - emblems painted by some polish soldiers. I want to create a whole platoon by using this method.

Cesarska piechota morska - druga drużyna / Imperial marines - the second squad

Niestety jakość rzeźby i plastiku pozostawiają wiele do życzenia. Dojrzewam do kupna metalowych Japończyków.
I was finishing the second squad of Imperial marines. This time I was chosing the 1943 uniform pattern from battle of Tarawa. The figures sculpted by Waterloo 1815 ("Japanese Infantry" set) are the best choice for this period. Unfortunately the sculpture and plastic aren't the best I was painting. Lack of Japanese miniatures causes problems. So I had to paint all available figures without complaints. I think I should buy some metal Japanese.

Na krzywy ryj II / Through the back door (part II)

Wczoraj Wielka Czwórka zagrała koncert nieopodal mojego podwórka. Moim zdaniem najlepiej wypadła Metallica. Anthrax i Slayer też byli nieźli. Trochę mnie zawiódł Megadeth. Oczywiście cały koncert obejrzałem za friko. W przyszłym roku będzie grał Iron Maiden i Rammstein. Farciarz ze mnie :)
Yesterday the Great Four had a concert near my backyard. IMHO the best was Metallica. Anthrax and Slayer was pretty good. I was little disappointed by Megadeth. Of course all festival I saw for free. Iron Maiden and Rammstein will play in my neigbourhood next year. I'm a lucky fellow :)

Piekielna autostrada / Hell's highway

Tygrys numer 007 został uszkodzony, naszym zadaniem było odnaleźć go i naprawić słynny czołg Michaela Wittmanna. Misję zakończyliśmy sukcesem. Kolejnym zadaniem była misja eskortowa. Naszym celem była osłona Sturmtigera i odprowadzenie go w dół ulicy do bezpiecznej strefy. W ostatnim desperackim i samobójczym ataku osiągnęli cel. Sturmtiger został unieruchomiony i przegraliśmy. To była bardzo dramatyczna bitwa. Dzięki chłopaki za dwie świetne bitki!
Today I was playing with q.b. and Wookush two interesting scenarios somewhere in Normandy. The first one was the rescue mission. Tiger no. 007 had damaged and our goal was to find and repair the Wittmann's tank. The mission was completed with success. The second task was an escort operation. Our goal was to protect the Sturmtiger and to transfer him down the street to a safe zone. British fought with ferocity and aggression, but many casualties caused they lost their impetus . In last desperate and suicidal attack they hit the target. The Sturmtiger was immobilised and we lost. This was a very dramatical battle. Thanks a lot guys for fantastic combats!
