The holidays are finishing and the second Fantasy Adventurers pack is already done. As last time I painted my heroes for Forgotten Realms setting but all half-naked wizards and warriors from both sets are looking quite good for some Sword and Sorcery fantasy skirmishes in the savage world of Conan the Barbarian and in world of first edition Warhammer RPG in 1/72 scale. Now I'm starting to paint some monsters to kill and gain some fame, treasury and experience. Meanwhile I run some works with terrain, soon you will see the first effect of my work effort. I hope you'll like it :)

To były wspaniałe czasy! Do czasu upadku firmy i przejęcia jej przez Wizards of the Coast.

When in 1995 Polish publication of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition was launched - it was shock for me and all my friends. Our young hearts were conquered by nice edited in Polish TSR Player's Handbook, Monster Manual and Dungeon Master Guide. After these publications the Forgotten Realms setting was approached. And in hobby shops the new brand was appeared - the D&D white metal miniatures.

In these years the RPG and wargames were near the same for me. All melee actions were supported with figures and improvised terrain elements. There were the glorious days! For many years the Forgotten Realms logo becomed the finest quality mark of fantasy games to me. Until the TSR's falling and taking over by Wizards of the Coast.

To honour the TSR's contribution in RPG and wargaming development in my life I decided to prepare some 1/72 fantasy miniatures in old school AD&D style, but their image is similar to first edition of Warhammer RPG. These may come in useful one day for intimate RPG session or small fantasy skirmishing in the long winter evenings. Because the winter is coming...

Meltdown i jej czarna milicja / Meltdown and her black militia

Another black militia squad I made last time. Now I have to take a rest from Africa and to paint something diffrent. Soon you will see something new, but still in 1/72 scale.

As always my team is commanded by Jagged Alliance's A.I.M. mercenary. This time it's Norma "Meltdown" Jessop, one of my favorite merc in JA2.

Don't mess with Meltdown. She may be smiling in her file photo, but that smile is certainly deceptive. This mercenary is legendary; an enemy once died at her feet from fear before Meltdown had even raised her weapon. As for her taste in weapons, the bigger, the better. In fact, Meltdown has a tendency for overkill in virtually every aspect of her life. Jessop is remarkably ambidextrous; she can easily fire two weapons simultaneously. She's aggresive rascist and feminist, in general she has an all-around hate for all humanity. If you ask why she has arrived to Africa I answer - to kill the black man and to see they killing each other. She demands absolutely loyalty from her man and tolerates them until they listen her commands. Insubordination is punished in one way - bullet in a head.

Udany zakup / A nice purchase

Today Amercom has launched his new 1/72 die-cast collection. This time there are the helicopters. In first issue we can find a nice painted model of Vietnam War Bell UH-1B. The model is prepared in "Heavy Hog" version - with one grenade and two Aerial Rocket Artillery launchers. This stuff is easy to remove so we can convert the model to "Hog" version (without grenade launcher) or the most common - "Slick" - the transport version. Absolutely "must have" for all Vietnam War players. The price is promotional - only 2$ for a model. I bought three pieces - they may come in useful one day :)

Wizyta w porcie wojennym / Visit in harbour

Wróciłem z wakacji. Słoneczne dni spędzałem na bałtyckiej plaży, zaś w pochmurny dzień postanowiłem odwiedzić wraz z dziećmi port wojenny w Gdyni. Z Markiem zrobiliśmy sobie wycieczkę na legendarny polski niszczyciel z Drugiej Wojny Światowej ORP "Błyskawica". Następnie Hania i Marek zwiedzili kolejną morską legendę - biały frachtowiec ORP "Dar Pomorza". Teraz czas powrócić do malowania i blogowania. Do przeczytania wkrótce!

I'm back home from my holidays. I spent the sunny days at the Baltic beach. When the cloudy weather has come I decided to visit with children the harbour in Gdynia. With Mark we made a tour on Polish legendary WWII destroyer ORP "Blyskawica". Next Hania and Mark visited another sea legend - Polish white frigate ORP "Dar Pomorza". It was very nice but too short leave. Now it's time to return to painting and blogging. See you soon!

Gus Tarballs i gwardziści / Gus Tarballs and the guards

Teraz jednak wraca do gry.

Another unit for my Tanga tribe army is already done. As always for Tanga regulars I used Italeri's "Vietnamese Army/Vietcong" set. This time the hats and helmets were removed and changed by berets made by me with using of Green Stuff. These guys will be the guard unit as last time led by mercenary instructor (the man in the centre in Tiger Stripe camo). Here's some fluff fo them:

Olisadebe's guards are recruited only from his own clan. They are absolutely faithful, because they took the ancient blood oath of total loyalty. They are honoured by Olisedebe by higher pay, better food and by the most beatuful women. They wear the berets in blood red colour - in same colour as Olisadebe's one to remember their sacred oath. I'm pleased to annouce that the legendary Gus Tarballs is now a member of Olisadebe's ranks. After his brilliant success in Metavira campaign against DFK Corporation and hard mercenary work for A.I.M. in Arulco campaign - Gus have retired. Now he is back in bussiness. Although he agreed to be only the instructor, but he has enough experience to train the Olisadebe's clansmen to best regular soldiers in Tanga tribe.

At the end of the post - take a look at the previous figures made for Tanga tribe. That army still growing!

Z niewielką pomocą dowództwa dywizji / With a little help from division HQ

Today I met in "Strateg" with Stemir and Chochla to practice some "Force on Force " rules. We chose an easy scenario with simple terrain to focus on the rules. Please take a look on the photo story.

Oberleutnant Scheisskopf otrzymał cynk od swego francuskiego informatora, że amerykańscy spadochroniarze wylądowali niedalego miasteczka Boulangerie. Zebrał więc swoich ludzi i popędził wraz z nimi w okolice mieściny.
Oberleutnant Scheisskopf gained the information from his French informer that American paratroopers had landed near the village of Boulangerie. He gathered his troops and arived with them to the fields near the village.

"Donnerwetter! Amerykanie umocnili się na swoich pozycjach."
"Donnerwetter! Americans were entrenched at their positions."

"Achtung! Jest ich wielu!"
"Achtung! They're many!"

"Verflucht! Mają lekką artylerię!"
"Verflucht! They have a light artillery!"

"Hilfe!" - Dowództwo przysłało działa szturmowe.
"Hilfe!" - The assault guns were sent by HQ.

"Sehr gut!" - Luftwaffe także przysłało wsparcie. Boże dzięki za niezłe Asset-Karty :)
"Sehr gut!" - Luftwaffe sent their support too. God bless the Asset Cards :)

Poprawiamy błędy producenta / Correcting producer's mistakes

My Plastic Soldier Company's late German infantry in summer uniforms platoon needs some guys with StG44. I found some interesting poses in Ceasar Miniatures "German Infantry" set but unfortunately the producer had some problems with historical accuracy. Instead of ankle boots and canvas anklets, the obsolete marching boots were made. I had another problem with figures' anathomy. The legs were too thin and the heads were too small.

First I remove the original heads and I changed them with Plastic Soldier Company's bits (extra heads were added to the PSC set). Another step were to make the legs thicker and dressed with proper boots and canvas. I made it with a little help from Green Stuff :) Next I took a picture of original figures with converted and painted new ones. Now they are historical and anatomical correct!
